PEPFAR Ambassador Deborah Birx noted the key role of civil society in Ukraine
The experience of Ukraine can be successfully scaled in Asian countries, for which Ukraine can become an effective role model. This was announced by PEPFAR Ambassador Deborah Birx at the regional meeting in Johannesburg in the frames of PEPFAR annual planning, which ended today.
During the presentation of Ukraine’s country plan for 2019 Ambassador Deborah Birx noted the country’s success in implementing the medical reform, as well as the key role of civil society in the successful implementation of the changes proposed by the state.
According to the Ambassador, this experience can be successfully scaled in Asian countries, for which Ukraine can become an effective role model.
Ukraine was represented at the meeting by a powerful delegation of CO “100% LIFE”, Public Health Center of MoH, ICF “Alliance for Public Health”, as USAID Ukraine and СDC country teams.
“I want to say that the main factor for our success was the unprecedented synergy of the efforts of patients and the government. Finally, we have learned to listen and hear each other, and we are already seeing the real results of this dialogue, which saves the lives of thousands of people throughout Ukraine. I also want to thank the PEPFAR global team for their attention to the country’s problems and a deep understanding of the Ukrainian context,” says Anastasia Deeva, Executive Director of CO ‘100% Life’.
We are proud of our colleagues and thank them for the brilliant presentation of our common achievements. And in the near future we expect the scaling up of the index testing programs, the intensification of work with key communities and other innovations, which we will discuss very soon.
We continue to work together to stop the epidemic and provide high-quality and modern HIV services for all.
