Workshop on introducing behavioral intervention “Steps to health

From June 19 to June 21, the Network, supported by the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, conducted training for NGOs staff working within the Global Fund project “Reducing the burden of TB and HIV through the establishment of universal access to timely and qualitative diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis, and its drug-resistant forms, expanding evidence-based HIV prevention, diagnosis and treatment, as well as the creation of sustainable and viable healthcare systems.”

The topic of the training is “The workshop on the implementation of the ‘Steps to Health’ behavioral intervention.”

The training brought together representatives from all regions of Ukraine.

During the workshop, the following tasks were implemented:

  • Provide information on peculiarities of HIV counseling for drug users and practice different counseling techniques.
  • Develop a patient’s pathway from the HIV testing to forming adherence to treatment and healthcare services in general.
  • Form the algorithm of work with the client while ensuring adherence to treatment, considering the conditions of armed conflict.
  • Practice the main elements of the “Patient’s School” and “Steps to Health” interventions.

Various tools and methods of work were used at the workshop so that the training included theoretical and practical parts: presentations, brainstorming, group work and individual work.

As a result of the training, all participants received educational literature and certificates.
